DUSLA Trip to LOC

I realize that this blog post isn't specifically about our final project, but I thought some of you in 652 might find this interesting.

I am one of the programming co-chairs for DUSLA, the Drexel University branch of the Special Libraries Association. We've organized a FREE trip to the Library of Congress on April 18th. If any of you are interested in attending, you can RSVP in person to Tim Siftar over in the Hagerty Library. At the LOC we'll get a special professional/behind the scenes look at some of their special collections. The tour will go into more depth than the standard tour would allow, so even if you've been there before, you'll still get to see a lot of new things.

We'll be taking a bus that leaves from the iSchool at 9 am on the 18th and returns around 7:30 pm that night. To reserve a space, you just need to bring Tim Siftar 10 dollars to hold your spot. You'll get the money back when you show up for the bus that morning. The iSchool is providing us with the bus and the tour itself is FREE so this is a really great opportunity. I'll be attending and I know several other of our illustrious classmates will be as well. Please come if you can and feel free to ask me if you have any questions.

Thanks for be an instrumental part of getting this trip together. I'm looking forward to it and know we will have a great time. I'm also interested in being more involved with DUSLA, so let me know who to contact or what I need to do to get more involved, when you have the time. Thanks.

Cripes! I would love to go on that field trip! Unfortunately, there are two sizable projects due about that time. Maybe next time? :7

I saw the poster in Rush about the trip - I wish I could go but I really can't take time off from work this week - maybe next time

thanks Holly for all the work you do for the SLA chapter - I enjoyed the trips to Penn's and the Art Museum's library

I'm not sure if I'm on the Drexel SLA email list (if there is one) I think I've gotten notice thru the commuters email list - will check for more DUSLA info - thanks

I seriously want to take this trip. Is there another planned in the near future, like for the summer quarter?

Thanks for posting approximately what time we would be returning. That helps me figure out the rest of my weekend:)

I'm planning on going! It's funny because I work at a school (k-8) where some of the students are going on a field trip Friday. And today I was able to say that I can't go on THEIR field trip, I'm going on one of my own-- to Washington DC! You should have seen the jaws drop.
